Fast bowler Ricky Anderson, a product of London Cricket College, made a successful start to his first- class career with Essex, claiming 50 wickets in his debut season, 1999. But after failing to agree fresh terms at Chelmsford for 2002 he moved up to Northamptonshire (who were looking to rebuild their squad after Championship relegation the previous summer) and spent three summers at Wantage Road. However, he failed to recapture the form that projected him to prominence; arguably his most noteworthy Championship performance for Northamptonshire was with the bat, a half-century against his old county Essex at Northampton in 2002, in a total of 632 all out. On his only outing for the Steelbacks in T20 cricket, in their first-ever fixture in the competition against Worcestershire in 2003, he removed four of the opposition’s top five batsmen, but fitness problems limited his first-team appearances and he left the club in 2004. He played subsequently for Cambridgeshire as well as enjoying a lengthy association with West Indian Cavaliers in the Nottinghamshire Premier League. With previous coaching experience in Surrey’s development programme under his belt he took up a similar role with Singapore Cricket Club in 2015, co-founded the Grassroots Academy in London - working with underprivileged young people – and has also coached in Dubai.
